FAQs

Q: What's the difference between a car dolly and a tow dolly?

Nothing — the terms are used interchangeably in the industry. Both refer to the same piece of equipment: a set of wheeled platforms that cradle a vehicle's front tires while the rear wheels roll on the ground behind the tow truck. You'll see both terms used by towers, manufacturers, and buyers depending on region and habit. If you're shopping for one, you're in the right place regardless of which term you used to find us.

Q: What size dolly do I need for my tow truck setup?

It depends on the weight class of vehicles you're moving. For light-duty work — standard passenger cars and small sedans — a dolly rated in the 3,000–3,500 lb range handles the job. For medium-duty applications like trucks, SUVs, and larger passenger vehicles, look at mid-capacity models in the Collins lineup. For heavy fleet recovery, repo work, or moving larger vehicles regularly, step up to a high-capacity Collins model. Check the gross vehicle weight of what you're towing and match it to the dolly's capacity rating — when in doubt, size up. Contact us at (856) 697-5250 ext. 204 and we'll help you spec the right unit.

Q: What are Collins G7X dollies and who are they for?

The Collins G7X is one of the most popular dollies we carry — and for good reason. It's a heavy-duty swivel caster dolly built for professional towing operations that need to move vehicles quickly and in tight spaces. The G7X is a go-to for repo operators, impound lots, and tow companies that are moving cars in and out of confined yards daily. If you've been searching for Collins G7X dollies specifically, we stock them — contact us or browse the collection above to check current availability.

Q: What are Collins high speed dollies used for?

Collins high speed dollies are designed for operations that need to move vehicles at higher speeds than a standard dolly allows — typically repo work, impound lot management, and fleet moves where efficiency matters. The high-speed rating means less wear on the dolly and a smoother tow at highway speeds. They're a favorite among repo operators and larger towing companies running high daily volume. We carry the Collins high speed lineup — if you don't see the specific model you need, call us at (856) 697-5250 ext. 204.

Q: Do you carry repo dollies?

Yes. Repo dollies — sometimes called repossession dollies or wheel dollies — are a core part of what we stock. Collins dollies are widely used in the repo industry for their speed, durability, and ease of use in tight spaces. If you're running a repo operation and need dollies that can keep up with daily volume, Collins is the brand most operators trust. Browse the collection above or call us to talk through the right model for your setup.

Q: Do you sell used tow dollies?

We don't carry used dollies — our inventory is new equipment from Collins, In the Ditch, and other trusted manufacturers. That said, buying new from an authorized dealer means you're getting equipment backed by the manufacturer, without the unknowns that come with used units (worn casters, stressed frames, missing hardware). For professional operators putting dollies to work daily, new is usually the better long-term value. If budget is a concern, contact us — we're happy to help you find the right model at the right price point.

Q: Do these dollies ship, and how fast?

Yes — we ship dollies across the contiguous 48 states. In-stock items typically ship via UPS Ground within 24 hours of your order, Monday through Friday. Orders received on weekends or holidays ship the next business day.

Free shipping applies on orders over $200 for ground shipments within the contiguous 48 states on items under 75 lbs. Some dollies may ship via motor freight depending on weight, in which case shipping charges will be quoted at order time.

If we’re temporarily out of stock, we can drop ship directly from our supplier. Lead time on those orders is typically 4–6 weeks, and tracking information will be provided once it ships.

We also ship to Canada at an all-inclusive price — no surprise fees after your parcel ships.

For expedited shipping, orders must be placed by 12:00 PM Eastern.

Questions about shipping a specific model? Call us at (856) 697-5250 ext. 204 — we’ll get you a straight answer fast.

Q: Can I return a dolly if it's not right for my setup?

For return policy details including eligibility, timeframes, and conditions, visit our Returns & Refund Policy page. If you're unsure whether a dolly is the right fit before you order, we'd rather help you spec it correctly upfront — call us at (856) 697-5250 ext. 204 and we'll point you in the right direction.

Please note: dollies ship via truck freight, and there will be a 20% restocking fee for truck freight items that are returned.
